The three or five year plan for Nationals?
The previous rotation formula for Nationals was three years, the first being BC and AB, the second SK, MN and ON, the third being QC, NB, NS, PEI and NL. Many think this has not worked. 50% of Nationals have been in AB or SK who have less than 10% of our membership. It also allows for a situation where Calgary could follow Kamloops, Montreal could follow Ottawa.
About five years ago several people in BC suggested a five year rotation which would be BC, ON, Atlantic (NB, NS, PEI and NL) Prairie (AB, SK, MN), QC. This idea has gained favour among more of our members who believe that putting the responsibility on a province or region five years ahead is a better way to go. The current proposal, not officially approved, is Winnipeg 2007, Quebec City 2008 and Kelowna 2009. This conforms with the five year plan. There is still the issue of 2006 Nationals, subject of another comment.
